Acclaimed Singer-Songwriter Allison Lupton Releases New Holiday Single
NASHVILLE, Tenn., — December 20, 2018 — In celebration of the holiday season, acclaimed singer-songwriter, Allison Lupton is pleased to release a new single, “The Eve of Christmas Day.” Joining her on the recording are the BBC Radio 2 Folk Music award winning trio, The Young’uns , guitar master Craig Werth , and a gorgeous silver brass quintet arranged by Tom Leighton .
Lupton is an award winning singer-songwriter with a voice as clear as a country stream. She performs self-penned and traditional songs with sensitivity and grace while adding an extra dimension to her stage presence through her virtuoso flute playing.
Allison grew up in Zorra Township, Ontario, where she learned to sing harmony in the Knox Harrington Church choir. She began playing flute in high school studying with Earl Reiner (Stratford Festival Orchestra),Thomas Kay (Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony) and Douglas Stewart (Canadian Opera Company Orchestra). Allison completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of Toronto and a Master of Music from the University of Calgary. In 1990 Allison joined the band Killiecrankie which was regularly heard on CBC Radio’s legendary Max Ferguson Show. Allison has since recorded 3 solo CDs and was featured on CBC’s Radio’s Vinyl Café and BBC Radio nan Gàidheal. She recently toured the UK performing at the Hebridean Celtic and the Warwick Folk Festivals. Allison has been honoured with nominations by the Canadian Folk Music Awards for “Traditional Singer of the Year” and “Vocal Group of the Year” for her recording with The Lucky Sisters. Her song-writing talents have also been acknowledged in 2015, winning Folk Music Ontario’s Songs From Heart grand prize.
Allison’s next full length recording Words of Love is set for release in the spring of 2019.
