Morgan James Announces Collaboration With Crosley Radio
Partnership includes vinyl pressing of Morgan James White Album cover and custom turntable.
NASHVILLE, Tenn., — February 12, 2019 — Award-winning singer-songwriter and Broadway actress, Morgan James is pleased to announce a collaboration with Crosley Radio , a leading audio brand since launching its first radio in the 1920s. The collaboration will include Crosley pressing two vinyl LP’s with all 30 tracks of the 1968 release “The Beatles”, otherwise known as The White Album , covered by Morgan James.
In addition to pressing the double vinyl LP, Crosley is releasing an exclusive Morgan James custom turntable. The “Morgan James Limited Edition” was created by covering the audio grade MDF plinth of the C6 model in a plush white, textured leatherette finish with folded and stitched binding. The Crosley C6 is a two-speed manual return turntable fitted with an Audio-Technica moving magnet cartridge. The turntable has an inboard phono stage offering a selectable option to either connect directly to the line input on any pair of powered speakers or attach a ground wire to ground post and connect to the phono input of a stereo amplifier or receiver.
“Morgan James, the artist and the album, are made for vinyl,” said Jeff Parrish, artist and entertainment director at Crosley. “James accords profound respect for the individual Beatles’ song craft and creativity while performing each track with a self-styled artistry.”
This partnership marks the first time James will be releasing vinyl in the US and Canada. “I couldn’t be happier to be working with Crosley because of their commitment to the integrity of sound,” said James. “The company has been such a big part of the revitalization of vinyl.”
James’ recent release, a cover-to-cover of the world’s most iconic records: the Beatles’ White Album will be the featured release in the collaboration. “For the White Album project, we embraced the vintage and Lo-Fi aspect of stepping into the Beatles shoes, and it’s made for vinyl,” says James.
Listeners find the classic ballads “Blackbird” and “I Will” presented acappella with James showcasing artfully-constructed harmonies. The wistfully mournful lyrics of “Julia” are borne beautifully by her heavenly vocals, while the early heavy metal sound of “Helter Skelter” infuses the album with James’s signature funky soul treatment. The album was produced by her longtime collaborator Doug Wamble, who played the instruments in every song as well as providing additional vocals.
Morgan James is currently on a 31 city North American tour, where she will be performing Beatles “White Album” covers in addition to original music from previously released albums. Available for sale at her upcoming shows will be the vinyl LP’s of the The White Album as well as the custom Morgan James Limited Edition Crosley C6 turntable, available for preorder.
